青花将军罐的早期出现在较多器型出现于明末，明代后期的将军罐，整体来讲器型不大、显得拙。后期到了清代早期顺治年基本定型，造型普遍为直口、短颈、丰肩、鼓腹。腹下部逐渐显得下收，且平底无釉，以及整体敦圆，大部分的器型显得高大。后面发展到了康熙年，青花瓷将军罐变得广为流行的时期，这个期间的造型，可以说罐身浑圆的罐体展肩提腹，修胎的过程拉颈收腹，圈足也内缩，这更能使得让将军罐的造型显得风采十足，给人的感觉气宇轩昂。后期由于将军罐的器型深受人们喜欢，因此在市面上无论是官窑还是民窑都是在大量烧造，民间老百姓也异常喜爱，后期的青花罐也随之发展的多元化。
