叠词在英语中运用十分广泛，它是由介词for、by、in、to、after等和连词and将同一个词连接形成的惯用语，通常在句中作状语。英语叠词不单能够表意，而且兼具音韵之美，读起来朗朗上口；连接的叠词既有名词，也有形容词和副词及其比较级。
