The internet's son is growing up right before our eyes. Chances are, you've probably seen, or at least heard of, him. His name is Gavin, and over the past few years, he's become not only a digital child for all, but the perfect way to express oneself online.

Gavin能成为风靡世界的网红，他舅舅Mastondon功不可没。

In the spring of 2014, Mastodon posted an innocuous video of Gavin with a crested gecko on his forehead. He wasn't expecting much of a response, but it blew up.

2014年的春天，Mastondon上传了一则Gavin人畜无害的视频，视频中Gavin额头上有一只睫角守宫。他并没有期待视频会得到太多回应，但是视频却迅速走红。

“People started to comment about his reaction and how great it was,” he recalls. “And I was like, Let's find other ways to capture him in funny situations and see if he can make that face some more. He just made a whole lot of different faces; it's just something he seems to be good at without even trying.”

“人们开始评论他的反应，称赞他的反应很棒，”Mastondon回忆道，“而我的想法是，‘那我们就看看能不能再捕捉到他做出这个表情’。他做出了不同的表情，看起来他很擅长这么做，完全不费劲儿。”

接下来的两年里，Gavin一直是舅舅视频里的常客，人气也越来越高，不仅受到了网友们的欢迎，还成功引起了一众名人明星和表情包账号的注意。水果姐Katy Perry，更是直呼Gavin是她的最爱。

The attention of celebrities in tweets like Biles's are a good indication of just how megaviral Gavin is. “Those types of things are just fun,” Mastodon says, “because they were just talking about him and just addressing him, referring to him on a first-name basis. And I think that that's really powerful, to show how popular he is or how recognizable his name is.”

在推特上，拜尔斯（美国体操运动员）等人的关注，充分证明了Gavin的火爆人气。“那些东西很有趣，”Mastondon表示，“因为他们在谈论他，能讲出他的名字。我觉得这有力证明了他的人气和他的名字是多么的家喻户晓。”

不过，对于Gavin的家人来说，Gavin的爆红并不完全是一件好事，舅舅Mastondon坦言道，自己多多少少有点忧虑，以后Gavin会不会因为这些照片和视频而讨厌他们。

“I'm hoping that he thinks it’s cool. I’m hoping that it’s not something that he gets teased about. I think his parents feel the same way.”

现在有很多人靠娃圈了一众粉丝，甚至把孩子当作摇钱树。但是，大家似乎不用担心Gavin会成为敛财的工具。Gavin的母亲Kate表示将“不惜一切保护Gavin”，而因Gavin所得收益的一部分也会作为Gavin的大学基金，在以后会帮助到他哦~

Gavin的父母有跟儿子解释过无数次他成为表情包的事情，但是，小Gavin并不能完全明白到底发生了什么，也不知道表情包为何物（表情包的英文是meme，和mean同音）。

而且因为年纪小，所以还不认得大家做的表情包上写的是啥。不过，Gavin也知道，有很多人认识他。

虽然让Gavin大红大紫的app Vine已经关闭了，但是Gavin依旧活跃在其他平台上。
