The Song

Always with Me is used as the theme song of Spirited Away （Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi《千与千寻》）, performed by Yumi Kimura[木村弓，日本歌手和词曲作家，擅长民谣，常常手持里拉琴自弹自唱]. The lyrics are written by Kimura's friend Wakako Kaku[觉和歌子，日本诗人、词作家、编剧、导演].

Spirited Away is a 2001 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki[宫崎骏] and produced by Studio Ghibli[吉卜力工作室].

Always with me was composed and conducted by Miyazakis regular collaborator Joe Hisaishi[久石让], a composer and director known for over 100 film scores and solo albums dating back to 1981.

And the song was intended to be used for Rin the Chimney Painter, a different Miyazaki film which was never released.

While Miyazaki was working on his next project, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, he started listening to the song again, and found that the song contains the same theme as Sen does. Eventually, it was decided the song would be used as the theme song of Sen. Miyazaki says that it might have been because of this song that he could make Sen.
