神农架“堂纺叠绣”源于晚清时期杨氏家族，由江西迁徙湖北而至神农架，将“湘绣”工艺带进深山，开一“堂纺面铺”经营布匹及绣品，以此谋求生计，继而将民间刺绣工艺融进“湘绣”,形成独特的神农架民间叠绣，并命名“堂纺叠绣”。

The Overlapping Embroidery in Shennongjia originated from the Yang family in the late Qing dynasty. This kind of embroidery migrated from Jiangxi province to Hubei province and then to Shennongjia, where they brought the embroidery skills of Hunan province into the mountains and set up a shop named“Tang Fang”to sell cloth and embroidery works to earn a living. Then the local folk embroidery technology and Hunan embroidery combined to form a unique Shennongjia overlapping embroidery, and named for“Tang Fang Die Xiu”.

这一刺绣工艺在神农架民间广为流传，深受人们喜爱，成为神农架民间刺绣的典范。

This one embroidery craft is in Shennongjia folk wide spread, people are very fond of, become the model of Shennongjia folk embroidery.

“堂纺叠绣”，大多使用绸缎面料，一般要在一个图案上将丝线最低叠绣三层，多者叠绣六七层，使图案赋予立体感，让其栩栩如生。

The uniqueness“Tang Fang Die Xiu”of lies in its mostly use of silk and satin fabrics, and then use silk threads to overlap and embroider three layers on each design, sometimes up to six or seven layers, to make the design more three-dimensional and lifelike.

“堂纺叠绣”的内容包括传统吉祥图案、龙凤狮虎、花鸟鱼虫、四季蔬果，戏曲人物，成语典故、字画楹联等。平面刺绣除少量的配制镜（边）框作为礼品或供观赏外，绝大部分制作成各种服饰、用品、玩具工艺品。

The content of“Tang Fang Die Xiu”includes traditional auspicious patterns, dragons, phoenix, lions and tigers, flowers, birds, fish and insects, fruits and vegetables, opera figures, idioms and allusions, and couplets of Chinese characters and paintings. In addition to a small number of the preparation of embroidery frames as gifts or for viewing, most of the production into a variety of clothing, supplies, toy crafts.

“堂纺叠绣”体现了当地人民的美好祝愿。风调雨顺，五谷丰登，国泰民安，团结和睦，健康长寿、家庭幸福、尊老爱幼、多子多孙等吉祥内容是各种作品的共同主题。

“Tang Fang Die Xiu”conveyed the best wishes of the local people. Auspicious contents, such as good weather and good harvest, peace and security of the country and people, unity and harmony, health and longevity, family happiness, respect for the old and care for the young, children and grandchildren, are the common themes of all kinds of works.
