金锭从宋代开始出现，作为货币性质存在一直到民国时期才结束，金锭的样式各异。无论是宋元明时期的束腰形，还是清代的长方船形，亦或是民国时期的金条，都没有出现过方方正正的金锭。而且金银有独特的延展性，所以金锭的转角处不会这么尖锐，表面都会有因为张力而出现的弧度。
