Beijing residents who have been divorced for less than three years are no longer qualified as “first-time” home buyers in the latest move to crack down on couple’s dissolving their marriage as a way to skirt restrictions on second-home purchases, as the city’s Commission of Housing and Construction implementing the new rules yesterday.

为遏制利用“假离婚”手段来购房，北京进一步给楼市“打补丁”。8月5日，北京市住建委发布《关于进一步完善商品住房限购政策的公告》，明确夫妻离异的，若原家庭在离异前已拥有2套及以上住房，自离异之日起3年内，任何一方均不得在本市购房。

Six government departments including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Friday issued a document to promote the sustainable development of the pig industry. The document proposed that China should maintain a 95 percent self-sufficiency rate of pork in 5-10 years.

8月6日，农业农村部等六部门印发《关于促进生猪产业持续健康发展的意见》。《意见》提出，用5—10年时间，基本形成产出高效、产品安全、资源节约、环境友好、调控有效的生猪产业高质量发展新格局，自给率保持在95%左右。

With only 2 days left on the Tokyo Olympic Games, China has won 34 golds, 24 silvers and 16 bronzes, remaining in the lead of the medal race, followed by the U.S. and Japan with 30 and 22 golds respectively.

80 locally transmitted cases were reported in the Chinese mainland yesterday, including 61 from Jiangsu province. The latest resurgence of COVID-19 caused mainly by the Delta variant, is more complicated but the epidemic is basically under control in four to six weeks, said He Qinghua, a senior official with the National Health Commission (NHC) on Thursday.

全国昨日新增80例本土确诊病例，其中61例来自江苏。8月5日，国家卫生健康委疾控局一级巡视员贺青华表示，从目前情况看，此轮疫情总体形势可控。只要各地严格落实好各项防控措施，疫情在两到三个潜伏期内就能基本得到控制。

Chinese vaccine maker Kangtai announced on late Wednesday it has successfully isolated multiple strains of the Delta variant coronavirus and will develop targeted inactivated shots. Two other domestic inactivated vaccine companies, Sinovac and China National Biotech, have also launched vaccine research and development for the Delta variant. Sinovac will submit an application in several countries for clinical research and emergency use on vaccines targeting the Gamma and Delta variants, said Sinovac CEO on Thursday.

Chinese telecoms giant Huawei saw its revenue drop by 38 percent in the first half of 2021. The company generated a revenue of 320.4 billion yuan ($49.56 billion), it said in an operation report on Friday. The biggest drop came from Huawei’s consumer business group, where revenue fell 47 percent to 135.7 billion yuan. It eked out a 0.6 percent rise in its net profit margin to 9.8 percent.

Chinese semiconductor giant SMIC generated US$1.34 billion in total revenues in the second quarter, up 43.2 percent year-on-year and ahead of market expectations, the company said in its earnings release on Thursday.

Experts believed that the excessive marketing and promotion of formula milk as breast milk substitutes had a dramatic effect on breastfeeding rates, suggesting that the industry needs stricter regulations, said state media yesterday. Shares of dairy producers across the mainland and Hong Kong boards reacted differently today, with the Hong Kong-listed China Feihe and Yashili International down 4.35 and 4.92 percent respectively. However, industry leaders Mengniu Dairy closed unchanged, and Yili in A-share saw a 1.11 percent gain.

Stocks of Chinese vaping firms made up for lost ground today after state media reported minors have been purchasing e-cigarettes in the country despite a ban on sales to under-18s. Huabao, China Boton and RLX all went up in closing.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank may officially rule out coal projects if it updates its energy strategy next year, after shunning fundings for such plants since it began operations in 2016, Jin Liqun, president of the bank, said on Wednesday.

Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.24 percent, at 3458 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.3 percent lower at 14827 points. The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.1 percent to stand at 26201 points.

周五A股股市集体收跌，截至收盘，沪指跌0.24%，报收3458点；深成指跌0.3%，报收14827点。港股恒生指数收跌0.1%，报收26179点。
