Garden of Eden

I’ve believed in warning since I was young:

Swallow a kernel,

Then grows a fruit tree from my belly

Inside of my body

I sow a forest of sour and sweet

The World Has Been Emulated

Listen, listen, and look

The world has been emulated

On the net up above our head

This is not the first time

We listen using eyes

Using the tongues of our fingers

Tasting bodies and the world

And producing oxidation in our minds

We eat, we eat it all

Eat the information that is so hard to digest

Talking about Forgetting at the Door

Objects lying idle green as a forest

Eventually they’ll arise from waiting

Forgetting those who forget it

In the crispy air

Beyond naming strolling

Surrounding day and night the sheer joy

People do not demand the landscape

It does no demand itself

After all… between the gazes

People are only memories of objects lying idle

展览介绍：

光合作用（photosynthesis）本是植物的特殊功能，是植物通过将太阳的光能经过一系列生化反应产生有机物，并释放氧气的过程。这一过程不仅是自然平衡的基石，也是星球演化的关键。在人类艺术文化的发展历程中，对于光合作用的模仿、启发以及探索在东西方都贯穿始终。在新媒体的语境中，光合作用始终存在，但人与自然、宇宙的关系已经发生了实质性的变革——人类进入了内循环的困境，在此困境中，光合作用超越了自然的概念，并延伸到社会及信息的领域。在此领域中，社会大众以更高的速率不断吸收着新的信息，消费着自然的资源，而这一切都有赖于信息时代的新媒体技术。

在盲目的摄取之后，我们进行并重复着着反（anti-）光合作用的过程，与其回馈有效信息、回收资源或是创造营养，我们不断内化着垃圾，将自我代谢的副产品——信息、材料等，再次吸收，逐渐远离了“光合作用”。于此，艺术家往往扮演着观察及反叛者的形象，通过以上的媒介手段，再次反思与寻找长存于社会及自然中的“光合作用”。而新媒体艺术正是这样的光合作用——通过吸收和使用大众媒介，与其内化副产品，却不断吞吐新的营养物，滋养着艺术家与观众之间的独特氛围。

根据意大利哲学家Chiara Bottici的“图像空间”假说，艺术家们正是通过以不同的法则使用及传播大众媒介，而创造了在乌托邦与现实之外的“图像空间”。光合作用的英语词源“photo（图像）”及“synthesis（综合）”让人联想艺术空间对于图像的综合生产功能，也是这次展览的目标所在——对于2020年代的图像，作为观众或艺术家的我们，该如何进行光合作用？

该展立足新媒体未来，展望科学视野，通过多媒体的手段，重新营造与自然、信息对话的空间，使观众不再是信息的被动受众，而参与主动呼吸的光合作用。光合作用在于图像的“光”，也在于思维过程的“合”。其意义是重新回到呼吸的概念中，走出内循环的困境，在信息化的未来中，探索新的人类生态。

The exhibition, based on the future of new media, prospects for a scientific perspective, and strives to recreate a space for dialogue with nature and information through multimedia methods. The audience is no longer a passive receiver of information, but a participant in the photosynthesis of respiration. Photosynthesis lies in the "photo" nature of the image and the "synthesis" result of the thinking process. The exhibition returns to the concept of breathing, breaks away from the concept of internal circulation, and explores a new human ecology in the informationized future.
