1. pass the time

关于pass，时间过得特别快可以说“Time passes so quickly”，而打发时间可以说pass the time。

When Paula was ill, I took her some magazines to help herpass the time.

葆拉生病时，我给她带去一些杂志帮她消磨时间。

2. no time to lose

用这个短语催促别人，意思是“没时间耽搁”。

Come on, there'sno time to lose, we have to get home before John finds out.

赶快，没有时间耽搁了，我们必须在约翰发现之前赶到家。

还可以说，time is of the essence。意思是“时间是关键，时间很宝贵”。

3. find time

这里的time是（可以用来做某事的）时间，理解为足够的时间或者是额外的时间，比如：

I don't know how youfind timeto do all the things you do.

我不知道你是怎么抽出时间做所有这些事情的。

4. have time on your side

我们知道，have someone on your side是有人是跟你站在同一边的，也就是被支持的意思，所以have time on your side 表示时间是跟你站在同一边，表示（某人）有充裕的时间。

也可以说time is on sb's side。另外，have time on your hands等于to have nothing to do，意思是无事可做。

If you don'thave time on your side, you'll have to advance with incomplete information and be open to adapting as you go.

如果你这方面没有时间的话，你必须在信息不完整的情况下前进，并在前进中随时准备调整计划。

5. two-time

这是动词哦，意思是脚踏两条船；对…不忠。

I ended the relationship when I found out he wastwo-timingme.

当我发现他脚踏两条船时，就分手了。

two-timer就是“对爱情不忠者，脚踏两条船者”。

如果有任何一方已婚，那用having an affair（外遇）形容会比较恰当。

6. be watching the clock

等于have/keep your eye on the clock，形容因厌烦或急于离开而老是看表。

I had a train to catch, so Iwas watchingthe clockall through the meeting.

我得赶火车，所以开会的时候我一直在不停地看时间。

7. call it a day

这个习语的意思是，今天工作就到这了，可以回家了、可以休息了。

I'm getting a bit tired now - let'scall it a day.

我有些累了——收工吧。

8. in this day and age

替代“at the present time”，意思是如今，当前，当今。

You can't afford to run businesses inefficientlyin this day and age.

如今低效经营企业是行不通的。

9. shelf life

它（尤指食品的）货架期，保质期，不过也可以形容“可以使用（受欢迎或成功）的时限”。

These days many marriages have a fairly shortshelf life.

这个时代，许多婚姻都无法持久。

10. in due course

due这个形容词意思是预计的，预期的。 短语表示在（将来）适当的时候，到时候。

You will receive notification of the resultsin due course.

到时候你会收到结果通知的。
