Turn Heavy into Light
Choosing the ancients into the painting is just a borrowed topic.
It provides a kind of distance to get rid of the closeness of real life, thereby alleviating the limitations of the times for us.
We are not sure whether to follow the ancients, but we are willing to enjoy the fun of communicating with the sages.

在传统绘画艺术中,我最赏其用线造型里那些轻盈与穿透的部分。它们有如“隐身术”,可将实体消弥。诸般描法过来,却能令人重量全无。诡异的造型意味使得衣下没有一具凡胎。无凡胎而又别有意趣,足见古人线条的藏匿功能。
In traditional painting art, I most like the Lightness and penetration parts of Line Modeling. They are like "Hiding" that can eliminate entities. After a variety of depiction techniques, people feel that there is no weight. The strange shape means that there is no mortal under the clothes. Unordinary and interesting, it shows the hiding function of ancient lines.

因此,我画中人物的造型,便取这轻盈与通透一格。而对其内心复杂与无限的描绘,则移至近傍的树木。树木的某些部分时而表现得精微而多变,精微中的形势变化又如山川丘壑,令人神驰。
Therefore, the shape of the characters in my paintings is light and transparent. The complex and infinite depiction of his heart is moved to nearby trees. Some parts of the trees sometimes appear subtle and changeable, and the subtle changes in the situation are like mountains and hills, which are amazing.

在画中人物的描绘上使用纤细的白描手法,是为高音区的轻盈;对于树桩树枝,我希望它们成为低音声部。试图以此取得较宽的视觉跨度。
The straightforward skill used in the depiction of the characters in the painting is for the lightness of the Holzblaser Fagott Hohe Lage; for the tree stumps and branches, I hope that they become the Bass voice. Attempt to obtain a wider visual span.

《任逍遥》里那位醉汉,理应躺在石条凳上。而将其身后石条抽去,却给了他悬浮的机会。此人身上衣折线条多处交叠,似不在人物画用线的传统范式中。然而汉字书写传统里的笔划交错,倒又提供了这种有趣的参照。
The drunk in "Ren Xiaoyao" should be lying on a stone bench. But removing the stone strips behind him gave him a chance to levitate. The fold lines of this person's coat overlap in many places, which seems to be outside the traditional paradigm of line drawing. However, the staggered strokes in the writing tradition of Chinese characters provide this kind of interesting reference.

如果说《任逍遥》《秋郊吟》《扶苏》等作为一个系列所涉及的是文人们思维态度的自由。那么,《烟霞》等幅则更多表现了侠士们肢体行动的自由。它们以《史记》中“刺客列传”的意象入画,是取其自主行动的驰骋与生命戛然而止的绝诀。如同白驹过隙的瞬间,和它之后可能出现的空寂。
If it is said that "Ren Xiaoyao", "Song of Autumn Suburbs", "Fu Su" etc. as a series, it is the freedom of thinking and attitude of literati. Then, the "Haze" and other frames more show the freedom of the swordsman's body. They are painted with the image of the "Biography of the Assassin" in "Historical Records", which is a knack for the gallop of independent action and the abrupt end of life. Just like the moment when a white horse passes through the gap, and the emptiness that may appear after it.

不羁,驭风行;义,无反顾。
这些画的选题有文士、武人与仕女,这与传统常规无异。但是画里的文士却未必饮茶、垂钓,也不对弈。武人未必雄壮、魁梧,亦无兵器。仕女未必弹奏、刺绣,也不揽镜。他们一律轻衣简衫,不饰不履。尽量以姿态的取向,线条的神情,运笔的疾缓,自由道出各类角色的风神、气度、美艳或是憨拙。它化重为轻,成全了一个意外的世界。

Unruly, control the trend; righteousness, no hesitation.
The topics of these paintings are literati, warriors and beautiful women, which are no different from traditional conventions. But the literati in the painting did not necessarily drinking tea, fishing, or playing chess. Warriors may not be strong, burly, and unarmed. Beautiful women may not playing, embroidering, and not looking at the mirror. They are all lightly clothed and undressed. As far as possible, the orientation of posture, the expression of lines, the speed and slowness of brushwork can freely express the elegant look, grace, glamorous and honest of all kinds of characters. It turns the heavy into the light, and makes an unexpected world.
