伯兰国

以唯美为主题的国度

也许 被天使吻过

理性与感性联姻

诗人不被驱逐 是座上宾

也许 被天使吻过

没有种族藩篱

没有世俗偏见 唯有

瓦尔登湖避难的灵魂

也许 被天使吻过

神圣性不亚于梵蒂冈

无形的国度
巨形的丰碑

也许 被天使吻过

伯兰之美远胜南非的彩虹之国

那是诗意美的化身

——人间真正的天堂

A state endowed with the theme of beauty

Perhaps kissed by an angel
It advocates marriage of reason and emotion
Poets are not expelled as in Plato's Republic
Yet honored as guests instead
．
Perhaps kissed by an angel
It allows no racial barriers
Or secular prejudice
Merely protecting souls of refuge from Walden
．
Perhaps kissed by an angel
It is no less sacred than the Vatican
An invisible kingdom
A hyper visible monument
．
Perhaps kissed by an angel
It is more appreciated than South Africa’s Rainbow Nation
An embodiment of poetry and beauty
A real paradise on earth
．

Biosketch of the author: GUI Qingyang, holder of PhD in translation from Lingnan University, Hong Kong; full professor of English at Zhejiang Yuexiu University, China; member of the Foreign Literature Committee of Zhejiang Writers Association; president of Hangzhou Translation Association. Author of a dozen of works including his Chinese rendition of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and Selected Poems of Gui Qingyang.
