⊙“Bob is your uncle”
In 1887, British Prime Minister Robert Gascoyne-Cecil appointed his nephew Arthur James Balfour as Minister for Ireland. The phrase 'Bob's your uncle' was coined when Arthur referred to the Prime Minister as 'Uncle Bob'. Apparently, it's very simple to become a minister when Bob's your uncle!
This expression is mainly used in Britain. It is often used immediately after a set of simple instructions and roughly means the same as '... and it's as simple as that!'
有些老外会在Bob's your uncle后面接上and Fanny is your aunt,形成一个对仗,以表示幽默。
▷Don’t worry about the computer. You just change the keyboard and it should work fine. Bob’s your uncle!
▷Press here and Bob's your uncle! It's disappeared.
▷In that event, Bob's your uncle, and life is rosy.
