Intellectual property media IPRdaily and incoPat jointly released the Global Quantum Computing Technology Patent Filings Ranking List (TOP100) recently. Of the 100 companies filing the most patent applications, 15 were based in China.

The list ranks the number of invention patent applications in the field of quantum computing that are publicly available worldwide as of October 18, 2022. US tech giant IBM had filed the highest number of quantum computing invention patent applications, with 1323 patents filed. Search titan Google and quantum computing company D-Wave based in Canada ranked second and third with 762 patents and 501 patents respectively.

The top 100 companies on the list are mainly from 18 countries and regions, with the US accounting for 40%, China for 15%, and Japan for 11%.

There are 15 Chinese companies on the list, including Origin Quantum, Baidu, Inspur, Tencent, Huawei, Alibaba, TuringQ, Qudoor, SpinQ, State Grid, CIQTEK, and Alibaba DAMO Academy.
