[2023. 5. 27] The table below shows the percentage of adults in urban and rural areas who took part in four free-time activities between 1990 and 2010.

The table illustrates changes in the proportion of adults from urban and rural areas who enjoyed four types of leisure activities for the year 1990 and 2000.

【概述段】

In general, for most activities, the gap of participation between these two groups of people narrowed in the given period. Also, reading wasthe most popular activityamong both urban and rural citizens in both years.

【Body 1】

It is clear thatthe 10-year period experienced a rising trend inthe figures for reading and photography for both groups of surveyed people.Specifically, 61% of city residentspreferred readingduring their free time,in contrast toonly 7% for those who enjoyed photography.These two figuressaw a remarkable growthin the decade, with an increase of 17% and 10%. Similarly, the figures for rural people whochose these two types of activitiesalso experienced a rising trend, with the proportion of those enjoying readingclimbing slightly tothe same as the figure as that for urban people in 2010.

【Body 2】

In terms ofthe other two kinds of activities, we can see that in both years, 10% of people from citiespreferred playing,whilethe proportion of rural people choosing this activitydeclined marginally by4%.However,the figures showed a different pattern when it comes to painting. Initially, a slightly larger percentage of rural respondentswere attracted bypainting than their urban counterparts, with 26% and 21% respectively. In the next 10 years,althoughthe former figureremained stable,a noticeable fall could be found inthe latter one to only 14% in 2010.
