If

如果

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

如果,你能镇定自若,当身边的人都变得疯狂,纷纷指责于你;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,But make allowance for their doubting too,

如果,你能自信如常,当所有人都质疑你,而且,你还能体谅他们的质疑;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

如果,你会等待,并不为等待所累;

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

或者,为人所骗,却不因此就去欺骗他人;

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

或者,为人所恨,却不因此怨恨他人;

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

你既不装腔作势,也不故做高明;

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,

如果,你有梦想,却又不迷失自我;

If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;

如果,你善思考,却不为思考而思考;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same;

如果,你把成就和灾难一视同仁看作虚妄,宠辱不惊;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

如果,你能容忍你曾讲过的事实被恶棍扭曲用以蒙骗傻子;

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

或者,看着毕生心血毁于一旦,你仍能默然不语俯身重建;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss;

如果,你辛苦劳作,已功成名就,但为了新的更崇高的目标,你仍能放手一搏,哪怕功名化为乌有;

And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breath a word about your loss;

并且,因此而失败,一切从头,你也对所有失去只字不提、毫不抱怨;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone;

如果,你已付出全部心力、精疲力竭、一无所有;

And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

但仍存信念坚如磐石,告诉自己:坚持!

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue;

如果,你跟村夫交谈而不离谦恭之态;

Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch;

或者,和王侯散步亦不露谄媚之颜;

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

如果,仇敌和密友都无法伤害你;

If all men count with you, but none too much;

如果,你在乎每个人,但不会缺了谁就不行;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run;

如果,你能在无情的时间中,用不懈奋斗的六十秒去填满每一分钟;

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it;

那么,你就可以拥有整个世界;

And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

而更重要的是,你将成为真正的顶天立地的人,我的孩子!
