又到开学季！

“开学”用英文该怎么说？可不是 open school 哦。

我们先看看“学期”如何表达。

“学期”的笼统表达是 academic term，根据每学期时长不同可分为三种常见类型：

1. the semester system 两学期制——其中每个学期叫作 a semester（一般4-5个月）。

第一学期（秋季学期） the first/fall semester

第二学期（春季学期） the second/spring semester

2. the trimester system 三学期制——其中每个学期叫作 a trimester（一般3个月）。

秋季学期 fall trimester

冬季学期 winter trimester

春季学期 spring trimester

3. the quarter system 四学期制——其中每个学期叫作 a quarter（一般10周）。

①表达“学期”的意思时，term 在英国使用较多，而美国更常使用 semester 。

②按照中国每年两个学期的教学制度，我们用 semester 更合适。

现在就说说“开学”，在英文里有以下几种表达方式：

1. 用“学期”（semester），“开学”可以表达为new semester starts/begins：

【例】When September comes, it means thenew semesterbegins.

当九月到来的时候，意味着新学期的开始。

2. 用“学年”（academic/school year），“开学”可以表达为start/beginning of the school year：

【例】At thebeginning of the school year, we would like to remind you of several important rules.

在新学期的开始，我们要提醒大家几项重要的规则。

3. 直接说back to school：

【例】The kids goback to schoolnext week.

孩子们下周开学。

虽然“开学”不能用 open，但 open day（开放日）是个常见表达（An open day is a day on which members of the public are encouraged to visit a particular school, university, or other institution to see what it is like. [Collins]），对学校来说指的就是“校园开放日”，在这一天，学校对学生和家长都敞开大门，父母可以访问学校。
