“太谢谢你了警察同志，想不到我可以这么顺利回家”，11月4日中午，在兴业县火车站一名中年男子接过兴业县公安局民警庞业琅递过来的火车票后，激动地表示着感谢。随后，男子在庞业琅和火车站工作人员的护送下，登上了返回贺州的火车。

11月4日凌晨五点刚过，兴业县公安局大平山派出所接到群众报警求助称，在大平山镇玉林西高速收费站有一名衣衫褴褛的中年男子正欲步行上高速被群众拦下，因不知男子来历故报警求助。

十来分钟后，大平山派出所值班民警庞业琅带领值班警员到达现场。在高速路口，庞业琅看到该男子衣衫破旧，脚下穿着一双拖鞋，身上没有携带任何东西。询问中，男子自称姓林，是贺州富川县石家乡石枧村人，前段时间打算到玉林市打工，但是辗转几处都没有找到工作，而且还不慎将行李、手机等弄丢了，因身无分文，在玉林又没有亲戚朋友，走投无路就想着走高速回家。庞业琅在交谈中发现林某面容憔悴、说话无力，于是将其带回派出所进一步调查。

回到派出所后，庞业琅自掏腰包为林某买来了热腾腾的面包充饥，随后庞业琅联系上了林某户籍地石枧派出所，通过对方派出所的努力，庞业琅与林某的家属取得联系，听说失联的林某找到了，家属很是高兴。随后，庞业琅为林某买来新衣服和新鞋，让林某换上。为了不时之需，庞业琅还细心地将林某家属的名字和联系方式写好，放在林某的口袋里，叮嘱一定要保管好。
