Students and teachers from local community and abroad were learning about the history of Maqiao homespun quilting which is one of Minhang’s intangible cultural heritage at Maqiao Wenlai Foreign Language Primary School.
Then the students and teachers who are from Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi learned tie-dye techniques and made handkerchiefs that possess the Maqiao homespun quilting style and charm created with the guidance of the teachers and students from Maqiao Wenlai Foreign Language Primary School. They not only experienced the charm of Maqiao homespun’s art characteristics, but also built up their friendships.
An international teacher said “Jenny assisted me in doing it. It is so beautiful. I adore it.” Jenny said that it was her pleasure and she would like to help Miss Bai to make tie-dye.
“I made lots of friends here in this school. I also helped my teachers. I translated things for them and they learn how to do this,” said an international student.
Another international student liked Maqiao Tubu and he was learning how to make tie-dye.
A Chinese student introduced, “Tie-dye is a traditional Chinese technology of dyeing clothes. It has more than one thousand and five hundred years old. I love it very much. I am proud of it and hope it will be more and more popular all over the world in the future.”
近日，中外学生们在马桥文来外国语小学了解闵行区非物质文化遗产——马桥土布的历史。
之后，上海德威外籍人员子女学校浦西校区的师生们在马桥文来外国语小学师生的指导和帮助下，学习了扎染的基础技法，制作了和马桥土布风格相近的手帕。他们不仅感受到了马桥土布的艺术特色，还加深了中外师生间的友谊。
“扎染真好看，我好喜欢。”一位国际教师在学生珍妮的帮助下完成了扎染。
一位国际学生说道：“我在这所学校认识了很多朋友，也帮助了我的老师。我为老师们在学扎染的过程中当翻译。”
一位中国学生介绍道，在中国，扎染是一项传统的染色工艺，它有着1500多年的历史，“我很喜欢扎染，并为它感到骄傲，希望扎染在世界上更加受欢迎。”
