Recruiting Postdoctoral Fellows in the laboratory of Dr. Qi Cao

Postdoctoral positions supported by NIH are available in the laboratory of Dr.Qi Caoin the Department of Urology atNorthwestern University.

The focus of Dr. Cao’s laboratory is to elucidate the role of epigenetic modifications in prostate cancer initiation/progression, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo model systems. Dr. Cao’s laboratory has extensively characterized the functions of epigenetic modifiers from the Polycomb Repressive Complex (PRC) in both prostate and breast cancer.

Our major contributions to the field of prostate cancer and other cancer research include:

1) Identification of a PRC2-independent function for EZH2 in regulating rRNA 2'-O methylation and IRES-dependent translation in cancer.

2) Characterization of BMI1 regulating androgen receptor in prostate cancer independently of the PRC 1.

3) The central role of EED in coordinating PRC 1 and 2 in breast and prostate cancer progression.

4) Coordinated regulation of polycomb group complexes through microRNAs in cancer.

5) the role of RNA modifications in cancer (PMID: 37831104, 37125636, 36408932, 35094010, 33795875, 29402932, 24457600, and 21840484).

The ideal postdoctoral fellow candidate should be highly motivated with a recent Ph.D. degree and a solid background and skills in molecular biology, cell biology, or other related fields. Experience in cancer research and mouse work is preferred but not necessary. The candidate will dissect the functions of epigenetic modifiers in cancer, using state of the art technologies. The position will continue to focus on developing the skills necessary to obtain grants and scientific publications and become an independent Investigator.
