lemon

我们都知道lemon最常见的意思是柠檬，但除此之外，它还有其他的解释。

①lemon：an artifact (especially an automobile) that is defective or unsatisfactory

lemon的一种英语释义是：有缺陷或不令人满意的人工制品（尤指汽车）

lemon可以用来表示残次商品，最初是用于描述汽车的。上世纪50年代，某个广告商用lemon来指代某问题车型，随后这种说法普及开来，并且不仅限于描述汽车。如果遇到质量有问题或者说得好听但实际没有价值的东西，都可以说lemon。比如“My phone is a lemon”就表示“这手机不咋地/这手机不好用”。

He took a little test drive and agreed the car was a lemon.

他试驾了一下，也认为这车不行。

This car is a total lemon. It's a waste of money.

这个车不好用。买它纯粹是浪费钱。

②lemon：a stupid person

lemon的另一种英语释义是：笨蛋

lemon用来形容人表示“无用、笨蛋”，相当于批评之类的话。

You are a lemon.

I just stood there like a lemon.

peach

讨人喜欢的人，好人

You're a peach.

你是个好人/你是个讨人喜欢的人。

She is a peach to work with.

second banana

second banana 是一个常见的美国俚语，指的是“配角；次要人物；副手，第二把手”

I don't want to be the second banana.

我不想当配角。

I always play second banana to her.

我总是做她的后补。

top banana

top banana指的是“主要人物；大老板；最好的演员或重要的官员”，可与 “second banana” 对比学习。

He's the top banana in this company.

他是这家公司的大老板。

go bananas

根据其英英释义to become extremely angry or excited，该短语意为“发疯、发狂；情绪失控”。

Adamson's going to go bananas on this one.
