美东时间6月16日晚。
第77届 托尼奖颁奖典礼在纽约林肯中心的 大卫·H·科赫剧院举行 。
本届最大的惊喜来自于话剧，音乐剧方面只能说大家都有肉吃。
背景设定于上世纪70年代，讲述一支虚拟乐队在录音棚录制新专辑过程的 《Stereophonic》 ， 囊括了包括 最佳话剧 在内的8项大奖， 成为本届获奖最多的作品。

最佳音乐剧 被 《The Outsiders》 斩获，它在提名阶段曾经活动12项提名，近排在艾丽西亚·凯斯创作的《 Hell’s Kitchen》后面。
除此之外，《The Outsiders》也拿下了 最佳导演、最佳音响设计 和 最佳灯光设计 。
而提名最多的 《Hell’s Kitchen》 则拿下了最佳音乐剧女主角和最佳音乐剧女配角。
同样呼声很高的《SUFFS》则拿下最佳音乐剧剧本和最佳原创音乐。
以舞蹈见长的音乐剧 《Illinoise》 也毫无悬念地拿下了 最佳编舞 。
在复排音乐剧方面，桑德海姆的 《Merrily We Roll Along》 则拿下了包括 最佳复排音乐剧 、以及 最佳男主角、最佳男配角 和 最佳编曲 。
最佳音乐剧之争
在最佳音乐剧方面，本届托尼奖又出现了在托尼奖历史上少有的景象。
那就是， 『最佳音乐剧奖』 和 『最佳音乐剧剧本奖』 的分离。
在大部分时候，这两个奖项的获得者都是同一个作品，而本次却分别由《The Outsiders》和《Suffs》分别斩获。

为什么这两个奖项的获奖者常常是同一个作品？
原因也很简单，『最佳音乐剧』这个奖项的份量一点都不轻，而它最重要的含份理应是作品的主题，或者说是剧本，而非歌舞和其他。
所以在托尼奖的历史，这两个奖项常常是由同一个作品获得。
而当这两个奖项分离的时候，那代表的也往往是当届的最佳之争相当激烈，所以多多少少会做出权衡。
安吉丽娜·朱莉 成为《The Outsiders》的制作人之后应该也给这部作品带来了不少关注度，在公关方面肯定也没少使劲。
总的说来，本届的音乐剧大家也算平分秋色，各有所获。
