In the vast land of China, there exists a unique dance form renowned for its exhilarating rhythms and majestic aura – the Ansai Waist Drum Dance.

Hailing from Shaanxi Province, the Ansai Waist Drum is an integral part of Yellow River culture and embodies the robust, tiger-like vigor and bull-like strength of the men from northern Shaanxi. It showcases both ethnic flair and regional characteristics. In 2006, it was inscribed in China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage List and even included in primary school language textbooks.

Oh, the magnificent Ansai Waist Drum! Once it starts, passion takes over, boundaries disappear, and all inhibitions are cast aside! A hundred or so young men, with drums slung across their backs, leap and pound like stones being relentlessly thrown up by a violent tremor, performing a wild dance before your eyes. The drumbeats fall like a sudden rainstorm, rapid and intense; the tassels fly like mini-tornadoes; their jumping steps resemble a chaotic chorus of frogs; their sparkling eyes shine like sparks; their robust postures mimic battling tigers. On the Loess Plateau bursts forth a dance so grand, so unrestrained, so fiery – the Ansai Waist Drum Dance!
