狄克运河位于哥伦比亚北部，流经玻利瓦尔省、大西洋省和苏克雷省的15个城市。运河最早由西班牙人于16世纪晚期开凿，17世纪中叶得以重修。这一工程是殖民时期最早最大的运河修建工程，为通往马格达莱纳河和内陆地区提供了快捷通道。由于马格达菜纳河泥沙淤积严重，货车运输占据垄断地位，狄克运河逐渐失去了航运价值。2010年，拉尼娜现象导致运河决堤，洪水摧毁了数十座村庄。如今，当地生态系统保护工作由地区自治管委会负责并开展运河现代化改造。

The Dique Canal in Colombia
The Dique Canal is located in northern Colombia,flowing through 15 cities in the Bolívar, Atlántico, and Sucre departments. Originally dug by the Spanish in the late 16th century and rebuilt in the mid-17th century,this canal was one of the largest colonial-era engineering projects, providing a crucial shortcut to the Magdalena River and the inland regions. Over time, due to severe sedimentation in the Magdalena River and the dominance of truck transportation, the canal lost its significance as a shipping route.In 2010, the La Niña phenomenoncaused the canal’s banks to collapse,leading to floods that destroyed dozens of villages. Today, the regional autonomous council is responsible for ecological conservation efforts and the modernization of the canal.
