上海七宝德怀特高级中学（简称“七德”）是由上海市七宝中学和美国纽约市德怀特学校合作举办的，获上海市教育委员会批准设立，中国教育部备案的上海市第一所独立设置的中外合作高中，是中国第一所独立设置的中美合作高中，于2014年9月正式开学。2015年，经国际文凭组织（IBO）授权，七德成为IB世界学校，开设IB DP课程。2018年，经剑桥国际CAIE授权，七德开设A-Level课程。

上月，七德组织了一场别开生面的升学指导工作坊活动，进一步助力七德er申请梦校。

赋能升学指导

11月19日，七德资优生项目的学生们参加了由加州大学伯克利分校（UCB）招生部副主任、德怀特升学指导委员会成员Peter Smith先生主持的工作坊活动。德怀特咨询委员会是德怀特全球的一个由资深教师和专家组成的大学升学指导小组，致力于为七德学生赋能升学指导。

On this past Tuesday morning, students in the High Flier program were treated to an exclusive workshop led by Mr. Peter Smith, Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at University of California, Berkeley (UCB). In addition to his work at UCB, Mr. Smith also serves on the Dwight Advisory Council, a college counseling advisory group of experts within the Dwight network dedicated to giving students supplemental university guidance.

加州大学（UC）系统的学校在七德很受欢迎，自2017年七德第一届学生毕业以来，共有138名七德学子选择进入加州大学就读。随着12月2日加州大学申请截止日期的临近，Smith先生的工作坊为目前正在准备UC申请材料的学生提供了很大帮助。

UC schools have proven popular at QD, and a total of 138 QD students have chosen to enroll at UC schools since our first graduating class in 2017. With the December 2 UC application deadline approaching, Mr. Smith's workshop was very helpful to students who are currently in the midst of preparing their UC applications.

在他的宣讲中，Smith先生给予七德资优生们关于申请UC文书写作的建议。他指导他们如何通过加州大学的文书更好地展示自己的个人特质以及学术和课外兴趣，并分享了成功和不太成功的文书的具体案例，以说明加州大学申请文书中的写作技巧，并强调学生们应避免的常见错误。除了不少七德学生和教职员工以外，德怀特全球升学指导部总监Shellee Hendricks女士也列席了这次工作坊活动。

During his presentation, Mr. Smith offered QD High Fliers tips on how best to craft their Personal Insight Questions (PIQs). He gave students clear, actionable advice on how to best present themselves and their interests through their UC essays and also shared specific examples of successful and less successful essays with students to help illustrate writing tips in the context of UC application essays and highlight common student mistakes to avoid. QD students and faculty engaged actively in the presentation, which was also attended by Ms. Shellee Hendricks, Global Director of College Counseling for the Dwight network of schools.

加州大学伯克利分校（UCB）和加州大学洛杉矶分校（UCLA）被广泛认为是美国最好的公立大学，多年来，这两所大学在U.S. News等排名系统中即便交替次序，但一直垄断着前两名。今年，UCLA排名第一，UCB排名第二。

UCB and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) are widely considered to be the best two public universities in the United States, and the two have traded places in rankings systems like U.S. News over the years, always monopolizing the top 2 spots. This year, UCLA ranks number 1, while UCB holds the number 2 spot.

这两所大学的录取难度都很高，而它们并非适合所有的学生。由于UC系统由9所优秀的学校组成，提供了几乎所有可以想象的本科专业，无论学生有怎样的学术水平、对什么学术领域感兴趣，都能在其中找到一所非常适合自己的UC分校。

Admission to both UCLA and UCB is highly selective, and these schools may not be a good fit for everyone. However, the good news is that as a result of the fact that the UC system consists of 9 excellent campuses offering almost every imaginable undergraduate program of study, students with almost any academic interest and level of academic achievement are likely to be able to find a UC school with programs that are a great fit for their interests and abilities.
