编者按

北京京西学校（简称WAB）创办于1994年，是北京的20几所外籍人员子女学校当中设立较早的学校之一。作为国内办学历史最悠久的国际学校之一，WAB诞生于一位外籍“红旗下长大的教育家”——柯马凯对九十年代中国外籍人员子女学校教育缺口的关注。30多年以来，WAB在代代教育者的传承中发展，坚持贯彻IB教育核心理念，关注全球与社会的变化，建设以学生为中心的学习社区。

2025年3月13日至15日，WAB成功举办了FOEN25盛会。此次活动围绕“Breakthrough Arena”、“Future Pathways”、“Flourishing Hub”和“Sustainable Futures”四大主题，展开了90多场讨论和演讲。FOEN25不仅展示了人工智能、教育模式创新等前沿话题，还特别强调了学生的主导作用，学生不仅在各个专家小组中扮演核心角色，还通过工作坊展示了他们对未来教育的创意和愿景。

From March 13–15, 2025, the Future of Education Now 2025 (#FOEN25) festival brought together over 700 educators, thought leaders, parents, and students at Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) for a celebration of learning, innovation, and the power of student voice.

With more than 100 speakers over 90 sessions, and discussions spanning four key themes—Breakthrough Arena, Future Pathways, Flourishing Hub, and Sustainable Futures—FOEN25 provided a dynamic platform for shaping the next chapter of education.

Conference Highlights – FOENspiration Panels of Experts and Students

Breakthrough Arena – Exploring AI and the Future of Work

  • Dr. Li Jing (Alibaba’s Moku Laboratory) and Zheng Yong (Alibaba's CTO) explored the expanding role of AI in entertainment and its growing influence across industries.

  • Dr. Li Nan (Chinese Academy of Sciences) shared insights into AI’s contributions to astronomy and scientific discovery.

Future Pathways Incubator – Rethinking Education Models

A powerhouse panel of global education leaders and students discussed the latest developments in assessment models and the potential of competency-based learning.

Flourishing Hub – Well-being and Inclusion in Education

This inspiring panel explored belonging and human flourishing. Share their thoughts and dreams on community, inclusion, and belonging both within schools and beyond.

Sustainable Futures Collective – Education's Role in Global Change

Led by students, this intergenerational panel of experts, parents, and students discussed socially responsible leadership, what it means for them, and how it will impact the world.

Students at the Heart of FOEN25

FOEN25 was not just about educators—it was a platform where students took the lead.

  • Students played a central role in every FOENspiration panel.

  • A student-led production team helped bring the event to life.

  • Student-led workshops showcased their creativity, leadership, and vision for the future of education.

Reflecting on the evolution of FOEN, Stephen Taylor, WAB's Director of Innovation in Learning & Teaching, shared: "The difference between FOEN 2019 and FOEN25 is action. We're seeing real change—new pathways to university, student leadership reshaping schools, and AI transforming learning. The collaboration and shared innovation at FOEN25 have been incredible. I hope everyone leaves not just with new ideas but with meaningful partnerships and practices."
