President Donald Trump recently sparked controversy after posting three images of floating marine debris on his social media platform, Truth Social, with the caption: "'A Gift from China' in the Pacific Ocean!" However, fact-checking investigations revealed that the images are either outdated, misattributed or have been digitally altered, drawing widespread criticism online.
据环球时报报道，第一张图是美国自然摄影师伊桑·丹尼尔斯（Ethan Daniels）在2017年7月上传的旧图，拍摄于印度尼西亚四王群岛附近。
第二张图则是水下摄影师卡罗琳·鲍尔（Caroline Power）2017年在“脸书”发布的。根据鲍尔的描述及相关媒体报道，这些图片拍摄于洪都拉斯北部罗阿坦岛附近，是大西洋属海的一部分。2017年11月，法新社在调查此事时采访了洪都拉斯奥莫阿市副市长莱昂纳多·塞拉诺（Leonardo Serrano），后者将这些垃圾归咎于邻国危地马拉。
The first image was originally captured by American nature photographer Ethan Daniels in July 2017 near Indonesia's Raja Ampat Islands. The second image, posted by underwater photographer Caroline Power on Facebook in 2017, shows garbage near Roatan Island off the coast of Honduras. In a 2017 investigation by AFP, local officials attributed the pollution to neighboring Guatemala, not China.
而特朗普发布的第三张图其实是一张后期合成的图片。图片的左半部分是美联社照片，展示的是在美国加州组装的用于收集太平洋塑料垃圾的一种浮动围栏装置，右半边的图片则属法新社所有，是鲍尔拍摄的位于洪都拉斯附近加勒比海域的垃圾带组图中的另一张。
The third image shared by Trump is a digitally composited photo. Its left half shows a floating barrier system designed to collect plastic waste in the Pacific Ocean. The right half features another photo by Caroline Power from the same Caribbean garbage patch near Honduras.
