The Renhuai Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau issued an official statement on Friday addressing a viral video alleging that a chicken leg sold by Zhengxin Chicken Steak, a popular Chinese fast-food chain, was infested with maggots.

据媒体此前报道，5月15日，有网友发布视频称，顾客购买正新鸡排的鸡腿后发现了大量的蛆。

对此，涉事门店店员告诉荔枝新闻记者，顾客早上买下午才来退，当时报警了。已对顾客赔偿，视频是围观者拍摄，不是购买者本人拍摄。

The controversy began on Thursday when a social media user posted footage showing maggots crawling inside a chicken leg reportedly purchased from a Zhengxin Chicken Steak.

In response, an employee from the involved store claimed the customer had purchased the product in the morning but returned it hours later. "We resolved the issue through compensation and reported the matter to the police," a staff said, adding that the video was filmed by a bystander, not the customer.
