Another stellar year of STEM accomplishments at Concordia! Across the realms of science, math, computing, and engineering, our students are truly excelling. While honing their STEM thinking and skills, some of them even brought their passions to rural school students outside Shanghai! Let’s take a quick look at their outstanding achievements.
01
American Mathematics Competitions (AMC)
This year, Concordia’s budding mathematicians have once again proven their excellence. In the AMC competitions, six students qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), an honor to only the top 2.5% (AMC 10) and 5% (AMC 12) of competitors globally!
In addition, our students have achieved six Global Honor Rolls of Distinction (top 1% globally) and six Global Honor Rolls (top 5%) in the AMC 8, along with seven Global Achievement Rolls in the elementary school division. For the AMC 10/12, they have earned one Global Honor Roll of Distinction (top 1%), two Global Honor Rolls (top 5%), and two School Merit Rolls.

Math Kangaroo
In the 2025 Math Kangaroo, four Concordia students got Perfect Score, and six won National Top Gold. A total of 17 students qualified for the Math Kangaroo Asia Camp.
Behind these numbers lies the students’ day-by-day accumulation and growth. We reached out to 4th grader Ray S., one of the perfect score winners, for his reflections on the journey.
“I practiced by completing past exam questions. After finishing them, I looked at the ones that I got wrong so I can learn from them. My test-taking skills and my math skills have improved after I took the Math Kangaroo test,” shares Ray.
At Concordia, we celebrate not just improved competition results, but the deepening of mathematical thinking and a love for learning that grows with each challenge.
03
National Science League (NSL)
The National Science League (NSL), an all-ages K-12 STEM challenge covering introductory science, physics, life science, and earth science, saw 18 Concordia students qualify for the All-Star Science Carnival this year. Award highlights included two Gold, five Silver, two Bronze, and nine Honorable Mentions.
04
Computing Competitions
Our middle and high schoolers also showcased their prowess in programming competitions.
Seven students from Concordia this year participated in the Canadian Computing Competition (CCC), organized by the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing. In the Junior division, two of our students, Kevin M. (Grade 8) and Felix K. (Grade 10), placed within the top 25% of competitors globally. This is a commendable achievement, recognizing their solid performance in this challenging contest.
Additionally, seven Concordia students competed in the Codyssi programming competition. In this event, 8th grader Kevin M. achieved a notable result, finishing in 3rd place overall among all participants.
“These outcomes reflect well on the students’ effort and their developing skills in computer science. It is encouraging to see them engaging in these types of academic challenges and gaining recognition for their work,” says Mr. Jake Stephens, Concordia STEM teacher.
05
VEX Robotics
Bravo to Concordia’s VEX Robotics program, who has rapidly risen to prominence since its inception just four years ago, culminating in a historic qualification for the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship.
Team 13212B “Top Gear” led the charge with an extraordinary season, earning two Excellence Awards, multiple tournament victories, and ultimately capturing the national championship title at the ACAMIS competition in Guangzhou. Their success secured a coveted spot at the World Championship in Dallas, where they showcased their excellence on the global stage.
06
Sharing Aerospace Passions
True learning extends beyond acquiring knowledge - it flourishes through the joy of sharing. At Concordia, students develop into ethical leaders who serve their communities. Last month, our high school students embarked on a service trip to rural Yunnan and Guangzhou respectively, where they conducted courses on drones and aerospace for local students, igniting the kids’ passion for science and technology. Seeing the children’s eyes light up with curiosity and their beaming smiles made every bit of the journey worthwhile.

STEM School of Excellence
This year, Concordia was recognized by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) and named a STEM School of Excellence. We are proud to be the only K-12 educational institution in China and Asia to receive this prestigious honor. A huge shout-out to our amazing students, dedicated faculty, and supportive parents!
Dr. Yujiro Fujiwara, STEM Coordinator and High School Math Teacher at Concordia, reflected on the recognition, saying, “This process has been a valuable opportunity for us to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and identify ways to continue improving. We are truly grateful to ITEEA and Siemens for promoting excellence in STEM education and for providing a platform for schools like ours to evaluate programs, share best practices, and connect with a broader community striving for continued improvement.”
With that said, our students have not only shined in STEM, but have also thrived in multiple areas across various stages throughout the year, including academics, sports, music, and art. Their hard work has been met with numerous highlight moments and well-deserved rewards. Next week, we’ll be looking back and sharing even more highlights from this school year. Stay tuned!
