Japanese freelance journalist Rei Shiba reported on Yahoo! Japan on Tuesday that experts have warned that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi could face an international arrest warrant due to the government's plan to procure attack drones from an Israeli defense company, a move that has sparked strong backlash among segments of the Japanese public.

The drones, including the "sky striker" model used in Gaza, are manufactured by Israel's largest weapons maker, Elbit Systems, which is closely linked to military operations there, the Japanese Ministry of Defense confirmed.

Several civic groups protested on Nov 27, denouncing Israel's military operation in Gaza as genocide and warning that Japan's purchase of Israeli drones could be seen as aiding and abetting.
纽约大学阿布扎比分校客员教授高桥宗瑠在集会视频演讲中称，“种族灭绝是严重的国际犯罪，任何国家都有义务阻止。在当前情况下仍从以色列采购武器是对国际义务的无视，日本的政治领导人可能会因此承担刑事责任。”
报道称，正如高桥所说，如果从以色列购买无人机被认定为助长种族灭绝的行为，日本首相高市早苗和防卫大臣小泉进次郎就有可能被签发国际逮捕令。国际刑事法院此前已对以色列首相内塔尼亚胡等人发出国际逮捕令。
In a video address, NYU Abu Dhabi visiting professor Saul Takahashi said that genocide is a serious international crime, and that continuing to purchase Israeli weapons violates international obligations, potentially exposing Japan's leaders to criminal liability.
If the drone purchase is deemed to aid genocide, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi could face international arrest warrants, similar to those previously issued by the ICC for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials.
