A highly venomous snake resembling a new character from the animated hit
Zootopia 2is being widely sold on Chinese e-commerce platforms, sparking alarm among consumer safety advocates and legal experts. The surge in sales of the Island Bamboo Pit Viper has raised serious public safety risks and the potential for legal repercussions for platforms, vendors, and buyers.

据澎湃新闻报道，近日，有消费者称，《疯狂动物城2》上映后，因学名海岛竹叶青的蓝色竹叶青长相与片中新角色盖瑞·一条蛇（Gary De'Snake，这个名字源自英语拟人化命名方式“X the Y”，动画创作者巧妙地利用这种形式让名字看起来更像人名）十分相似，在某电商平台出现大量被标价售卖的蓝色竹叶青，价格从288元到3000元不等。
The issue was first reported earlier this month by The Paper after a concerned consumer surnamed Wang found multiple listings for the Island Bamboo Pit Viper on the secondhand platform Xianyu. Prices ranged from about 300 to 3,000 yuan ($42.5 to $425), with sellers explicitly marketing the snakes as "Gary's same-style little blue snake".
据该消费者王先生介绍，自从电影上映之后，部分平台上有商家将标价售卖的“蓝色竹叶青”直接注明是“《疯狂动物城2》盖瑞同款小蓝蛇”。
王先生说，“蓝色竹叶青”含有剧毒，可能存在安全隐患。此外，根据《国家林业和草原局关于规范禁食野生动物分类管理范围的通知》规定，“海岛竹叶青”属于禁食野生动物范围，若“确需适量保留种源用于科学研究等非食用性目的的，要充分论证工作方案的可行性，并严格履行相关手续”。而他在咨询过后发现，网购“蓝色竹叶青”根本没有任何要求强制性办理相关手续，付钱就能收货。
12月4日，王先生对相关商家进行举报，但被平台以“证据不足”为由驳回。
Recognizing the species as highly venomous, Wang attempted to report the listings to Xianyu, arguing that live dangerous animals should not be sold on general consumer platforms. The platform rejected his report for "insufficient evidence".
中国日报记者就此咨询了闲鱼平台。客服表示，根据平台现行规则，包括“海岛竹叶青”在内的活体动物均禁止交易。这一表态较本周早些时候其对其他媒体的回复有所转变——此前该平台曾表示，虽然受保护动物被禁止交易，但“‘海岛竹叶青’不属于保护动物范畴，按照现有相关规定，实际不是强制不允许售卖的”。
In response to an inquiry from China Daily, Xianyu's customer service said the platform prohibits the sale of live animals, including the Island Bamboo Pit Viper, under its existing rules.
That marks a shift from its response earlier this week to other media, when it said that although protected animals are banned, the Island Bamboo Pit Viper "does not fall under the category of a protected animal" and is therefore "not forcibly prohibited from sale" under its policies.
据公开资料显示，“海岛竹叶青”作为非我国本土的外来物种，未被列入我国《国家重点保护野生动物名录》《有重要生态、科学、社会价值的陆生野生动物名录》。其中《有重要生态、科学、社会价值的陆生野生动物名录》载有13种竹叶青蛇，但“海岛竹叶青”不在其中。此外，“海岛竹叶青”尚未被列入《重点管理外来入侵物种名录》。
律师提醒
对此，北京市京师（上海）律师事务所吴风虎律师认为，“海岛竹叶青”虽未被列入濒危名录，但它是境外特有物种。在平台上公开售卖“海岛竹叶青”等剧毒蛇类的现象不仅严重威胁公众安全，更暴露出平台、物流及监管等多个环节的漏洞。
此外，吴风虎补充道，《中华人民共和国邮政法实施细则》三十三条规定“各种活体动物”“毒性等危险物品”以及“可能危害人身安全”均属于禁寄的范畴。毒蛇作为活体且具有强毒性的物品显然在禁寄名单内。而电商平台上的售卖活动一般离不开物流环节，快递公司对这类包裹本应不予收寄，而若违规寄递本身就是违法行为。
Legal experts say the online trade of the Island Bamboo Pit Viper already violates Chinese postal regulations banning the mailing of live animals and toxic articles.
