这是第60天读英文版《傲慢与偏见》，这也是chapter3的最后一段。
上篇笔记讲到贝内特太太着手对达西开炮，因为舞会上达西拒绝和她女儿跳舞，贝太太觉得老脸没面子，有点下不来台，尴尬，因此回到家对着先生愤怒的对达西开炮，她是这样讲的：
“But I can assure you,” she added, “that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high and so conceited that there was no enduring him! He walked here, and he walked there, fancying himself so very great! Not handsome enough to dance with! I wish you had been there, my dear, to have given him one of your set downs. I quite detest the man.”
这段文字，我瞅瞅词汇注释，算是把这段文字转化为中文了：

这段文字生词较少，出于多学一点我还是查阅工具列举一些注释和句子：
1. assure
词性：动词
含义：向……保证；使确信
用法：“can assure you”，向对方保证。
2. suiting
词性：动词（现在分词）
含义：适合；迎合
用法：“not suiting his fancy”，不符合他的喜好。
我从词典上找的双语例句，给出的正好是我们读的这段文字里的句子：
"But I can assure you," she added, "that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing."

4. horrid

含义：可怕的；极讨厌的
用法：“horrid man”，极讨厌的人。

你对自己被贴上“可怕的人”的标签感到困扰吗？

我逐句拆解阅读一遍：

assure：向……保证。
