新华社消息，巴拿马总统府28日发布公告，明确反对拆毁位于巴拿马运河西侧美洲大桥观景台的华人抵巴150周年纪念碑，并下令在原址立即修复。

Panama's presidential office has condemned the demolition of a monument commemorating China's contributions to the Panama Canal and ordered it to be immediately rebuilt at its original site after public outcry.

此前，据中国驻巴拿马大使馆官微消息，12月27日深夜，阿赖汉市政府在未作任何事前通知、也未事先与华人社团进行任何沟通的情况下，不顾现场华侨华人代表的一致反对，悍然强行拆除了位于美洲大桥观景台的、铭记华人对巴百年贡献和象征中巴人民友谊的中巴公园及华人抵巴150周年纪念碑。

According to media reports, the monument was torn down over the weekend by order of local authorities who said it had structural damage that posed a risk.

外交部发言人林剑29日在例行记者会上表示，中方对巴拿马有关地方政府强拆华人抵巴纪念碑行径严重不满，已向巴方提出严正交涉。

林剑表示，有关纪念碑是对中国劳工对巴拿马重大历史贡献和中巴传统友谊的见证和纪念，是对华人积极融入当地社会的认可。“强拆行径的性质十分恶劣，严重伤害了广大旅巴侨胞的感情，有违中巴友好大局。”

China strongly deplores the demolition of the monument and has lodged protests with the Panamanian side, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday.

"It gravely hurts the feelings of the extensive Chinese community in Panama, and goes against the overall momentum of China-Panama friendship," he said.

他表示，中方注意到该行径已在巴引起公愤，巴拿马总统穆利诺已公开谴责这一行径，巴拿马总统府已下令立即在原址重修纪念碑。中方要求巴方彻查此事，尽快纠正有关地方政府错误行径，及时消除恶劣影响。

China has noted that the forced demolition has triggered indignation in Panama, Lin said, adding that Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino publicly condemned the move. "The presidential office has ordered the immediate reconstruction of the monument on the original site," he said.

Lin stressed that China has asked Panama to get to the bottom of this matter, rectify the local government's wrongdoing and undo the negative impact as quickly as possible.

12月29日，中国驻巴拿马大使馆发布严正声明。声明指出，此举不仅粗暴践踏了巴拿马30万华侨华人同胞的集体感情，也严重伤害了中国人民对巴拿马人民的友好情谊。中国驻巴拿马大使馆对此表示极度震惊、强烈愤慨和坚决反对。

The Chinese embassy in Panama on Monday expressed extreme shock, strong indignation, and firm opposition to the demolition of the China-Panama Friendship Park and the monument commemorating the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese people in Panama, on Saturday night without any prior notice or communication with Chinese community.

"The move not only brutally trampled on the collective sentiments of the 300,000 Chinese nationals and people of Chinese descent in Panama, but also severely harmed the friendly feelings of the Chinese people toward the Panamanian people," read an embassy statement issued on Monday morning.
