During the press conference, Hu Jianbin, Director General of the Department of Natural Resources of Guangdong Province, told SFC that during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Guangdong has innovated mechanisms for realizing ecological product value and pioneered new pathways for developing and trading marine carbon sinks. In 2025, Jinwan District of Zhuhai completed China's first cross-border marine carbon sink transaction, integrating local tamarisk carbon sinks with those from Portuguese-speaking countries. Meanwhile, Taishan in Jiangmen pioneered a public subscription model for mangrove conservation carbon sinks. It launched the first phase of subscriptions for 5,000 tons at 336 yuan per ton, of which about 2,174 tons have already been sold, further expanding the scope of blue carbon trading.
