Main Purpose

This Special Issue aims to explore the current landscape and emerging developments in cardiovascular metabolism and its central role in the pathogenesis of cardiac and vascular disease. The issue will place equal emphasis on mechanistic and translational insights into metabolic heart failure and atrial fibrillation, and on early biomarkers, risk prediction, and early-stage intervention strategies targeting vascular dysfunction in metabolic disorders. In addition, this Special Issue will feature clinical studies in high-risk cardiometabolic populations and innovative platforms for early detection, including advanced imaging, digital health technologies, and AI-driven approaches, collectively advancing the next era of cardiometabolic precision medicine.

Outline of Pathways

1. Metabolic Heart Failure and Atrial Fibrillation: myocardial energetics, metabolic remodeling, and cardiometabolic mechanisms underlying HFpEF, HFrEF, and atrial fibrillation.

2. Early Biomarkers and Risk Prediction: novel biomarkers, multi-omics strategies, and predictive models for early identification of cardiovascular and vascular risk in metabolic diseases.

3. Early-Stage Intervention Strategies: lifestyle, pharmacological, and device-based interventions targeting subclinical cardiovascular and vascular dysfunction in obesity, prediabetes, dyslipidemia, and related conditions.

4. Clinical Studies in High-Risk Cardiometabolic Populations: outcomes from cohort studies and clinical trials focusing on early cardiovascular and vascular protection in patients with diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

5. Innovative Platforms for Early Detection: advances in cardiovascular imaging, functional assessment, digital health tools, and AI-driven diagnostics for early cardiometabolic changes.

6. Preclinical and Translational Research: mechanistic insights into metabolic–vascular–myocardial interactions and validation of novel therapeutic targets.
