这 是本届冬奥会上中 国体育代表团收获的第三枚金牌，也是中国在速滑男子1500米比赛中赢得的首枚冬奥金牌。
美国名将乔丹·斯托尔兹和卫冕冠军荷兰人凯·努伊斯分获第二、三名。
China's speed-skating star Ning Zhongyan backed up his world elite status at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics on Thursday by winning his career-first Olympic gold medal in the 1,500m with a new Games record time of one minute and 41.98 seconds, with pre-race favourite Jordan Stolz taking silver and Netherland's Kjeld Nuis claiming bronze.
确认自己获胜后，宁忠岩泪洒赛场，他身披五星红旗缓缓绕场滑行庆祝，观众纷纷起身为他欢呼、鼓掌。“这个成绩对我来说非常、非常满意。我的目标是打开（1分）43秒，但我真没想到自己能滑进（1分）42秒。”他说。
宁忠岩说，速度滑冰1500米相当于田径赛事中的400米或800米。“身为一个亚洲人，能在这个项目上赢欧美人，太难了。我不相信我能获得金牌，因为乔丹真的太不可思议了，他在这四年里无人能挡，我始终把他当做一座跨不过去的山。但在奥运会1500米上，我把这座山成功翻过去了，山顶的风景太好了！”
宁忠岩说：“我从未停止过对自己的信任。我一直告诉自己要保持耐心，要不断努力，相信所有的付出终有一天会得到回报。而今天就是这一天。即便现在，我仍觉得这一切有点不真实。”
After Ning's victory, he spoke to reporters about the self-belief he needed to call upon to win gold in the ever-improving world of men's speed skating.
"After the Beijing Winter Olympics, the level in speed skating just kept getting higher and higher," he said. "It felt like there was a mountain in front of me, and no matter what I did, I just could not get past it."
"But I never stopped believing in myself. I kept telling myself to stay patient, to keep putting in the work, to trust that all the effort would add up one day. Today was that day. Even now, it still feels a little unreal that I was able to do this." Ning said.
宁忠岩的荷兰籍教练德威特在赛后说：“我们知道这场比赛会非常艰难。努伊斯起跑速度极快，他会想在两次换道时抢占优势，所以我叮嘱宁一定要保持冷静、稳住节奏，在第二圈时找准时间发力，并为最后一圈的冲刺做好准备。比赛的进程和我们预想的完全一样，他完美执行了战术。”
斯托尔兹在赛后拥抱宁忠岩，送上祝贺。“宁忠岩今天滑得太快了，我很高兴他能拿到这块金牌。他一直训练得非常刻苦，一直都在努力站上领奖台，他能赢得比赛真的太酷了。”
"Ning's time was a surprise; he had the race of his life," said Stolz. "If anybody was going to win, I thought Ning would be the one to do it. I was happy for him."
谈及宁忠岩，中国代表团副团长佟立新评价道：“形象好，精神好，人品好，成绩好，中国好青年！”
