US President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would direct the Pentagon and other government agencies to release government records related to extraterrestrial life and UFOs.
"Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters," he said in a post on Truth Social.
此前，美国前总统奥巴马于当地时间2月14日在一档播客节目中称“外星人确实存在”，不过他“没见过”，美国内华达州的“51区”里面“也没关着外星人”——除非是“有连美国总统都瞒着的天大阴谋”。但一天后，他又在社交媒体上发帖澄清说，从概率上看，宇宙很可能存在其他生命，不过自己在任期间“并没有看到任何证据表明外星人曾与人类接触”。
Trump's remarks come after former President Barack Obama drew media attention over the weekend when he appeared to confirm the existence of aliens in an interview. "They're real but I haven't seen them," said Obama.
He later clarified in an Instagram post that he was referring to the statistical likelihood of life existing on other planets given the vastness of the universe. "I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us," he added.
19日，特朗普在搭乘“空军一号”专机前往佐治亚州途中表示，奥巴马近日涉及外星人的说法“泄露了机密信息”，奥巴马“不应该这么做”。特朗普说，“我不知道它们（外星人）是否真的存在……但我可以告诉你，他（奥巴马）泄露了机密信息，他犯了个大错。”
"Well, I don't know if they're real or not. I can tell you he gave classified information. He's not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake." said Trump on Air Force One.
美国的“51区”一直被不少人认为是外星人降落地和美国的外星人研究基地，但美国政府谈到这一地区时一直含糊其辞。
