Iran cannot participate in the 2026 World Cup after co-host the US launched airstrikes alongside Israel, Iran's sports minister Ahmad Donyamali said on Wednesday.
The attacks killed the Islamic republic's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggered a region-wide conflict.
"Under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup," the minister told state television.
11日早些时候，国际足联主席因凡蒂诺在个人社交账号上表示，在他与美国总统特朗普的会面中，特朗普表示欢迎伊朗队前往美国参加美加墨世界杯。

Earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said he had met US President Donald Trump, who told him he welcomed Iran's participation in the World Cup.
Trump had previously said "I really don't care" if Iran participated or not, but Infantino said he had a productive discussion with the president.
"During the discussions, President Trump reiterated that the Iranian team is, of course, welcome to compete in the tournament in the United States," Infantino said.
据了解，由美国、加拿大、墨西哥联合主办的世界杯将于6月上旬开赛，伊朗队与比利时队、埃及队及新西兰队被分入G组，三场小组赛均会在美国举行。
Iran are grouped with Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand. All three of their Group G matches are scheduled to take place in the US, two in Los Angeles and one in Seattle.
根据国际足联相关规定，假如一支球队在世界杯开始前退出，将会由其他队伍递补，有报道称伊拉克队和阿联酋队被认为是潜在的递补队伍。

Trump has been named the first winner of the newly created FIFA Peace Prize, claiming "the world is a safer place now" as he received the award at the draw for the 2026 World Cup in Washington DC.
