China's Jilin province has announced that biology and geography will no longer count toward high school entrance exam scores starting in 2027, in a move to ease academic pressure and curb excessive competition.
据微信公众号“吉林教育”3月17日消息，为减轻学生负担，增加学位资源，破解“教育内卷”，吉林省教育厅对中考事项作出调整。2026年，现行计分科目不变，降低考试难度。将生物学、地理学科考试形式调整为开卷，试题结构与2025年一致，面向2024年入学的初一学生实施。自2027年开始，将生物学、地理学科调整为考查科目，不作为中考计分科目，考试形式为开卷，从2025年入学的初一学生开始实施，考试结果以等级形式呈现。
A notice released on Tuesday explains that the current scoring system will remain in place in 2026, with reduced difficulty. For students who entered junior secondary school in 2024, the two subjects will shift to open-book exams.
From the next cohort, they will be treated as qualifying exams, with results reported in grades rather than numerical scores.
消息还提到，各地持续扩大普通高中招生规模，全面落实“高中阶段不作职普比例限制”要求，保障学生自主选择权。自2026年开始，持续提升指标到校比例，取消单独设置的指标生录取控制线限制。同时，鼓励各地结合实际探索实施招生录取和培养模式改革试点，支持普通高中学位充足的地方探索实施录取工作后剩余学位登记入学改革试点，支持具备条件的地方探索实施小初高贯通培养和职普融通改革试点，具体方案将由各地自行制定。
The policy also calls for expanding general high school enrollment and removing limits on the academic–vocational split, giving students greater choice. Authorities will increase the share of quota-based admissions and scrap score thresholds for designated quota students.
Local governments are encouraged to pilot reforms in admissions and training models, including flexible enrollment for unfilled places, integrated education pathways, and closer coordination between academic and vocational tracks.

如安徽省黄山市教育局2025年11月宣布，自2027届初中毕业生起（即2024年秋季学期入学的七年级学生），生物学、地理考试成绩不再计入中考总分，两个科目以等级方式呈现并作为省级示范高中录取门槛（合格考生数占参加考试总人数的97%）。生物学实验操作考试成绩不再计入总分。信息科技考试成绩不再以等级形式呈现，不作为普通高中录取门槛。
黄山市的中考总分将由850分调整至760分，计分科目为：语文150分、数学150分、外语（含听力）120分、道德与法治80分、历史70分、物理70分、化学40分、理科（物理、化学）实验操作20分、体育与健康60分。
Huangshan in Anhui province will exclude the two subjects from total scores for students graduating from 2027, with results reported as grades for admission reference.
2027年开始，江西省吉安市中考地理、生物科目考试和计分方式也有变化。
吉安市教体局印发的《关于调整初中学业水平考试地理、生物科目考试和计分方式的通知》，明确了从2027年开始，对地理、生物两门科目的考试和计分方式进行调整。自2025年秋季入学的初一年级新生开始，吉安市初中阶段地理和生物科目考试将全面实施机考改革，考试成绩以A、B、C、D等级形式呈现，作为高中学校招生录取重要参考。考试成绩不再以分数形式呈现，不计入中考总成绩。
目前，吉安市初中学业水平考试（中考）记分科目共10门，总分为830分，分别为语文120分、数学120分、英语120分、物理80分、化学70分、政治80分、历史80分、体育60分、地理50分、生物50分。

此外，陕西省咸阳市教育局今年1月宣布，2027年开始（目前初中八年级），咸阳市普通高中招生录取计分科目调整为8科，分别为语文、数学、英语、物理、道德与法治、化学、历史、体育与健康。生物学、地理2科不再计入普通高中招生录取计分科目，以等级方式呈现，作为初中毕业的基本依据。
咸阳市教育局解读文章介绍，等级制旨在降低过度应试，引导夯实基础，为综合素质发展腾空间。2027年，生物学、地理仅作等级认定，不计入录取分。其以A/B/C/D四等级呈现，C级及以上为毕业合格；不合格者需补考达标方可毕业。
在政策导向上，市教育局解释为减负提质，优化科目结构；突出核心科目权重；强化基础达标，弱化分数竞争。
In addition, Xianyang in Shaanxi province has announced that biology and geography will no longer count toward admissions from 2027 onward, with results only reported in grades as a graduation requirement.
Authorities have clarified that the change aims to ease academic pressure, strengthen core subjects, and shift focus away from score-based competition.
