According to historical records, the ancient Chinese warlord Cao Cao suffered from severe migraines. Now, visitors to his tomb in Anyang, Henan province, have been leaving boxes of ibuprofen — along with thoughtful "medical advice" notes — turning the burial site into an unlikely gathering spot for young history enthusiasts.
Unlike traditional tomb offerings of flowers and incense, the display cabinet at the Cao Cao Mausoleum Museum is filled with neatly stacked ibuprofen, making it a popular photo stop.

The trend has sparked buzz on social media. Many users have posted photos and videos of the painkiller-laden tomb.
A museum staff member told media on Sunday that many people visited during the Qingming Festival holiday. "There are indeed a lot of ibuprofen boxes at the tomb, and new ones come in every day," the staff said, adding that they don't remove the gifts but simply arrange them neatly.
When asked on Monday how expired medicine would be handled, the staff explained that workers regularly inspect the offerings. For expired ibuprofen, they keep the packaging but destroy the pills.
