A man in Xiamen, Fujian province, has sparked online discussion after squeezing five surgical procedures into a 10-day leave — five of which were performed within just five days.
据九派新闻，28日，当事人李先生告诉记者 ，因左耳失聪，他请假做人工耳蜗植入手术。想着难得有长假，不想白白浪费，顺便又做了肠胃镜、割了痔疮、拔智齿、切除鼻甲。
According to Jiupai News, the man, surnamed Li, initially took leave for cochlear implant surgery due to hearing loss in his left ear. Not wanting to "waste" the rare long break, he decided to add a gastroscopy and colonoscopy, hemorrhoid removal, wisdom tooth extraction, and nasal turbinate reduction to the list.
术后，医生为他开具了止痛药以缓解不适。李先生坦言，看似一次性解决了所有问题，实际却痛苦不堪，直呼 “已老实，千万别学我”。
Post-surgery, Li was prescribed painkillers to manage the discomfort. But he now admits the experience was far from efficient — it was agonizing. "I've learned my lesson. Please don't follow my example," he said.
有人调侃称“一粒止痛药的作用被发挥到了极致”，并称该男子为“时间管理大师”。
也有人表示，理解其心酸与不易。
Social media users were quick to react. Some joked that he had "maximized the effect of a single painkiller" and dubbed him a "master of time management", while others expressed sympathy for his suffering.
这种 “打包” 做手术的情况并非个例。据海报新闻3月报道，辽宁沈阳一名29岁男子一周内连做5场手术。当事人胡先生表示：大年初七进的医院，先切除肠息肉，后又做了痔疮、包皮和挖痣手术，出院之后拔了两颗智齿。胡先生称“本想着一次治好身体问题，做完后发现太遭罪了”。
Li is not alone in attempting such a "package deal" approach. In March, Haibao News reported on a 29-year-old man in Shenyang, Liaoning province, who underwent five operations in one week — including intestinal polyp removal, hemorrhoid surgery, circumcision, mole removal, and two wisdom tooth extractions after discharge. "I thought I'd fix everything at once," he said. "But afterward, I realized how much torture it really was."
实际上，这类不急于一时、时间上可从容安排的手术被称为“择期手术”。择期手术患者无需着急择期手术治疗的疾病，就是可以选择手术的最佳时机，早一点做手术或者晚一点做都可以，不会造成很大影响的疾病。这些包括：患病时间比较长的慢性感染性疾病，胃肠道、肝胆胰脾和甲状腺乳腺的良性肿瘤等，这些都是可以选择手术时机的疾病。
These types of procedures are known in medical terms as elective surgeries — operations that do not have to be performed immediately and can be scheduled based on patient or physician convenience. They typically include non-urgent treatments such as benign tumor removals or surgeries for chronic infections.
医生表示，短时间内密集开展多部位择期手术并不值得提倡。医生建议，择期手术应遵循急症优先、分期治疗原则，优先处理影响健康与生活的紧急问题，非紧急小手术分阶段进行，给身体留出充足修复时间，切勿为追求效率盲目集中手术。
However, doctors caution against packing multiple elective surgeries into a short timeframe. Medical experts recommend following the principle of "emergency first, staged treatment" — addressing urgent issues that affect health or daily life first, while postponing minor, non-urgent procedures to allow the body sufficient recovery time.
