(Oral Presentation)

(Short Talk)

Blue Wave Conference2026

Youth Responsibility for Enlightening the Unknown

6-7 June 2026 | Xiamen, China

Blue Wave Doctoral Forum

Call for Abstracts

Theme

Land-Ocean-Climate Nexus for Coastal Ecosystems
Coastal ecosystems are highly productive and dynamic systems that play a critical role in global biogeochemical cycles and support human livelihoods. However, they are increasingly exposed to intensifying and interacting pressures, including land-based perturbations, global warming, sea-level rise, ocean acidification, and extreme weather and climate events, compounded by rapid coastal development. These multiple stressors often act simultaneously, leading to cumulative impacts, nonlinear ecosystem responses, and potential tipping points, thereby increasing uncertainty in ecosystem functioning and resilience. As a result, coastal regions are among the most vulnerable socio-ecological systems on Earth. The forum aims to highlight emerging topics related to the land-ocean-climate nexus in coastal ecosystems and to encourage interdisciplinary exchange.

TheBlue Wave Doctoral Forumprovides a platform for recent and soon-to-be PhD graduates in marine sciences to present their research and engage with scientists, policymakers, and peers. Participants will present their work through oral presentations and short talks. Awards will be presented to outstanding presenters at the closing ceremony of the conference.

Expected Outputs

·All accepted presentations will be archived on the Forum website.

·An event report will be jointly published by collaborating international organisations.

·Accepted authors will be invited to submit manuscripts to Anthropocene Coasts (submission guidelines available on the Forum website).

Please note: Manuscript should be as comprehensive as possible. Data supporting the results should be provided directly in the paper, included in the associated supplemental materials, or archived in an appropriate public archive. Submissions that do not have a clear human or multidisciplinary component are more suited to one of the existing discipline-based journals and are unlikely to be considered for publication.

Submission Information

• Submit your abstract in accordance with the template (click Read more to obtain the template and submission link).

• Abstract submission deadline:15 May 2026

• Forum session:14:00-15:30, 6 June 2026

• Registration fees are waived for PhD student presenters.

The Blue Wave Doctoral Forum is a dedicated session of the Blue Wave Conference 2026, a flagship event within the World Oceans Day celebrations in Xiamen (6-8 June 2026). For authors unable to attend in person, a virtual forum may be organised at a later stage in coordination with international partners.
