据黄冈师范学院消息，7月6日20时10分至30分，黄冈市黄州区出现历史罕见的EF2级龙卷风，该校南北校区处于龙卷风中心区域(最大风速超过15级)，大范围受灾，损失严重。
A rare EF2 tornado struck Huangzhou district in Huanggang city, Hubei province, at between 8:10–8:30 pm on Monday, according to Huanggang Normal University. The university's north and south campuses, which laid directly in the tornado's path, sustained widespread and severe damage. Wind speeds were reported to exceed Level 15 on the Beaufort scale.
多名该校学生发布的视频显示，多个学生宿舍的窗户爆裂，有教室的天花板出现严重破损，还有电线冒出电火花。
Videos posted by students showed shattered windows in multiple dormitories, severely damaged classroom ceilings, and electrical sparks from exposed wiring.
黄冈师范学院介绍称，本次龙卷风灾害造成校内倒伏树木2000余棵，办公楼、教学楼、图书馆、体育馆等公共建筑门窗、外墙、吊顶大面积破损，教学设备、基础设施不同程度损毁，初步估算直接经济损失1.53亿元，资产核查、损失定损工作同步开展。
More than 2,000 trees were uprooted on campus, the university reported. Public buildings — including administrative offices, lecture halls, the library and the gymnasium — suffered extensive damage to doors, windows, exterior walls and suspended ceilings. Teaching equipment and other campus infrastructure were also damaged to varying degrees. Preliminary estimates put direct economic losses at 153 million yuan. Asset verification and loss assessment are ongoing.
截至7月7日12时，52名师生前往医院就诊，有21人留院治疗，所有受伤人员均无生命危险。
As of noon on Tuesday, 52 faculty members and students had sought treatment at hospitals; 21 remained hospitalized, with no one’s injuries being declared as life-threatening.
学校集结多支抢险队伍分工作业，经过连夜抢修，7日凌晨2时，南北校区主干道已清理畅通，北校区恢复供电；7日上午10时起，南校区各楼栋陆续恢复供电；7日中午学校食堂全面恢复正常供餐。
The university mobilized multiple emergency response teams for overnight cleanup and restoration. By 2 am on Tuesday, the main roads on both campuses had been cleared, and power was restored to the north campus. Power was gradually restored to buildings on the south campus from 10 am that day, and the campus canteens resumed full service by noon.
结合校园受损严重、多处存在安全隐患的情况，学校决定，全校15000余名非毕业班学生自7月7日起提前放假，有序离校。
Given the extent of damage and lingering safety hazards, the university decided to bring forward the summer break for its more than 15,000 non-graduating students, effective on Tuesday, and arranged for their orderly departure.
据上游新闻报道，黄冈师范学院工作人员称：“7月6日的龙卷风只有人员受伤，并未出现身亡。目前所有老师和职工都在岗，继续做好灾后物资清查和清扫工作。学生的期末考试已经临时取消，待到9月开学时再考试，学生已经于7月7日陆续放暑假，学校将进入灾后重建阶段。”
A university spokesperson told media: "No fatalities occurred in the Monday tornado, only injuries. All staff remain on duty to continue post-disaster inventory and cleanup. Final exams have been postponed until the start of the new semester in September. Students have begun their summer break as of Tuesday, and the university is entering the reconstruction phase."
两部门紧急预拨5000万元支持湖北、甘肃做好灾害应急抢险救灾工作
记者7月8日从应急管理部获悉，近日，湖北遭遇历史罕见龙卷风袭击，甘肃宕昌突发山体滑坡，引发险情灾情，造成人员伤亡和财产损失。7月8日，财政部、应急管理部紧急预拨5000万元中央自然灾害救灾资金，支持湖北、甘肃开展灾害应急抢险救灾工作，最大限度减少人员伤亡，防范次生灾害。
On Wednesday, China's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management allocated 50 million yuan in central natural disaster relief funds to support emergency rescue and relief efforts in Hubei and Gansu provinces.
其中，预拨湖北2000万元，支持开展受灾群众转移安置、倒损住房恢复重建等工作；预拨甘肃3000万元，支持开展人员搜救转移、地质灾害应急处置、次生灾害隐患排查等工作。
