Gong Xiangyu has now grown into the captain of the Chinese Women's National Volleyball Team.

She once broke down in tears alongside teammate Zhu Ting, and also cried in front of head coach Lang Ping, murmuring "Coach Lang, you shouldn't have selected me for this tournament".

Facts have proved that Coach Lang's choice was absolutely correct.

Nicknamed "Little Universe", Gong Xiangyu made 7 appearances throughout the whole tournament, scoring a total of 40 points (28 points from attacks, 9 points from blocks, and 3 points from serves).
