Frist week of World of Warcraft 12.1 has wrapped up, and Blizzard is wasting no time rolling out a fresh batch of class tuning balance changes ahead of the WoW Midnight Season 2 launch. The developer is homing in on the biggest outliers across both the top and bottom of the MMORPG's performance spectrum, with several tier sets singled out for "greatly overperforming our expected targets." Devourer DH, Arcane Mage, Discipline Priest, and Fury Warrior are all in the crosshairs — but to keep these specs from getting gutted, most are receiving buffs to their baseline abilities to level things out. Interestingly, the new World of Warcraft Midnight patch notes don't kick off with set changes at all. Instead, we're looking at a straight-up nerf to Blood DK's San'layn spec: Visceral Strength now grants 6% strength instead of 10%, while Transfusion's bonus to Dancing Rune Weapon has been cut in half to just 5%. Blizzard notes that tooltips won't initially reflect these new values, with the updated numbers coming "at a later date," so keep that in mind. Frost DK, on the other hand, gets a hefty 9% boost to all ability damage, though the two-piece bonus from the Venomous Abyss set, Baleful Grave-Knight's Crucible, is halved. For Devourer Demon Hunters, Blizzard says the four-piece set bonus "is performing significantly above expectations." It will now generate just two soul fragments instead of eight, and its Reap damage boost drops from 20% to 10%. To compensate, all ability damage is increased by 14% in PvE combat, although Reap, Cull, and Eradicate are tuned down slightly to keep things in check. Restoration Druids have reason to smile: all healing is up 4% and all damage up 20% in PvE. BM Hunters also see a small bump to their recently overhauled four-piece set bonus, with Blizzard admitting it "isn't quite as strong as we would like it to be" — though the changes may not fully appease players still smarting from the previous nerf. Mistweaver Monk, another underperformer, gets an unspecified boost as well, with further class tuning details expected as the season draws closer.
