记者19日从四川省长宁县应急管理局获悉，8月18日17时30分许，长宁县硐底镇新堡村一村民在家中院坝为子女举办升学宴，因临时搭建的雨棚积水过多，绳索拉力过大，导致用于固定雨棚的一楼房顶女儿墙墙体倒塌，造成3人现场死亡，2人送医后抢救无效死亡，另有17名伤者正在医院接受治疗。

A temporary shelter collapsed on Tuesday during a family celebration in Changning county, Sichuan province, killing five people and injuring 17 others, local authorities said on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm in Xinbao village, Dongdi town, when a farmer hosted a celebration for his child's college admission in his courtyard. Heavy rain had accumulated on a makeshift canopy, and the increased tension on the ropes caused the parapet wall along a rooftop that anchored the structure to give way.

Three people died at the scene, and two more succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital. Seventeen others are currently receiving medical treatment.
