"Today I'd like to talk about a journey I took last year — 嗯，怎么说呢，a train trip from my hometown, Liangzhou, all the way to Dunhuang. 对，就是凉州到敦煌的火车。It was, 让我想想，大概…… a six-hour ride cutting through the Hexi Corridor, you know, the famous Hexi Corridor."

"What fascinated me most was the scenery shifting outside the window. 一开始是…… at first we passed endless wheat fields, golden and quiet. 然后，慢慢地，the fields gave way to the Gobi Desert — 戈壁滩，一眼望不到边。It felt like watching two completely different worlds slide past."

语法笔记

a train trip I took last year — 定语从句省略关系代词（= that/which I took），口语中极常见；先行词是 trip，从句动词 took 用过去式。
the fields gave way to the Gobi Desert — give way to = 让位于、被……取代，是描写景观/事物变化的加分短语，比 were replaced by 生动。
It felt like watching two different worlds slide past — feel like + V-ing（感觉像在做某事）；slide past 现在分词作宾语补足，画面感强。
a journey isn't only about the destination — be about + 名词/动名词，表"关于/在于"；isn't = is not 口语缩写，正式写作建议写全。
the little stories you collect on the way — 又一处省略关系代词的定语从句（= that/which you collect），修饰 stories。

❌ take a car / by car to go to Dunhuang → ✅ go by train / take the train to Dunhuang（交通方式：by + 工具无冠词；take + the + 工具）
