Shanghai Disney Resort has apologized to a visually impaired visitor after a staff member asked her to put away her white cane while she was visiting the park on September 3, an incident that sparked public discussion about accessibility and staff training.

The visitor, surnamed Song, said she was asked by a staff member to put the cane away while taking photos in front of the castle because the park was crowded. She filed a complaint that day but said it was not effectively resolved. When a reporter later called the resort's customer service line, a staff member said white canes fall under stick-like items and suggested registering in advance by email.

Song returned on Sept 4 and said Disney apologized and gave her two stickers. On Wednesday, she said she received a formal apology, with the resort identifying the staff involved as security personnel, promising better training, and inviting her back with complimentary tickets and priority access.

On Thursday, Shanghai Disney confirmed the incident, issued a sincere apology, and clarified that visually impaired visitors do not need to register in advance to use white canes.
