第 1 课 · 你好，我叫小明 / Hello, I'm Xiaoming

场景：校门口 · 教室 · 小卖部　｜　 话题：问候/姓名/国籍

每篇一个小场景，中文对话 + 英文讲解，零基础也能跟上。这是「跟着小琳学中文」系列的第 1 篇（共 20 篇）。

第一幕 · 校门口

Chapter 1 · At the School Gate

中文导读　中国人和外国人聊天，永远是这三个问题、这个顺序：先问名字，再问国籍，最后补一句「你中文真好」。这不是客套，是标准欢迎方式——你只要笑着说谢谢，然后接着聊就行。

Culture Note：Welcome to HSK 3.0, Level One. Twenty short stories, one for each situation you will actually run into in China. Lesson one: meeting someone new. Pay attention to the order of the questions. Chinese people ask the same three, in the same order, every single time.

小明：你好！

Hi!

小红：你好！

Hi!

小明：我叫小明，你叫什么名字？

I'm Xiaoming. What's your name?

小红：我叫小红，很高兴认识你。

I'm Xiaohong. Nice to meet you.

小明：我也很高兴认识你。

Nice to meet you too.

小红：你是中国人吗？

Are you Chinese?

小明：是，我是中国人。你是哪国人？

Yes, I'm Chinese. Where are you from?

小红：我是美国人。

I'm American.

小明：真的吗？你的中文很好！

Really? Your Chinese is really good!

小红：谢谢。这是我今天听的第五次了。

Thanks. That's the fifth time today.

小明：五次？

Five times?

小红：对，已经五个人这么说了。

Yes, five people have already said it.

小明：那你怎么还说中文？

Then why are you still speaking Chinese?

小红：因为我想学好中文。

Because I want to learn Chinese well.

小明：你真努力。

You really work hard.

Culture Note：That was chapter one. Notice the routine: name, country, compliment. And a note on that compliment. When a stranger tells you your Chinese is good, it is not a joke and it is not small talk. It is the standard way of saying welcome. Say thank you, then keep talking.

第二幕 · 教室里

Chapter 2 · In the Classroom

中文导读　「他」和「她」读音完全一样。说出来谁都分不清，只有写字的时候才会错。所以——说的时候放松，打字的时候小心。这是外国人学中文第一个月的典型崩溃点。

Culture Note：Chapter two. Class begins, and today the students introduce themselves. Two things to watch. First, the word for he and the word for she sound exactly the same. Second, saying where you study uses the verb to be, not the verb to study.

老师：同学们，早上好。

Good morning, everyone.

小明：老师好！

Hello, teacher!

小红：老师好！

Hello, teacher!

老师：今天我们班来了一位新同学。

Today a new classmate joins our class.

老师：小红，请你介绍一下自己。

Xiaohong, please introduce yourself.

小红：大家好，我叫小红，我是美国人。

Hi everyone. I'm Xiaohong, and I'm American.

小明：他是美国人。

He is American.

老师：不是“他”，是“她”。

Not he — she.

小明：对不起。她是美国人。

Sorry. She is American.

小红：没关系，很多人都说错。

It's fine. Lots of people get it wrong.

老师：因为“他”和“她”的声音一样。

Because he and she sound exactly the same.

小明：所以写的时候要小心。

So you have to be careful when you write.

老师：对。好，我们继续。

Right. OK, let's continue.

老师：小红，你来中国做什么？

Xiaohong, what did you come to China for?

小红：我来中国学习汉语。

I came to China to study Chinese.

老师：你在哪儿学习？

Where do you study?

小红：我在这儿学习。您是我的老师。

I study here. You are my teacher.

老师：很好。小明，你呢？

Very good. Xiaoming, and you?

小明：我在这儿学习汉语。我是她的同学。

I study Chinese here too. I'm her classmate.

小红：这次说对了。

You got it right this time.

小明：因为我记住了。

Because I remembered.

老师：好，我们看第三页。

OK, let's look at page three.

Culture Note：End of chapter two. Keep one small trap in mind. In spoken Mandarin, he and she are pronounced identically. Nobody can hear the difference, so you cannot get it wrong out loud. The difference only exists when you write. Relax when you speak, and be careful when you type.

Culture Note：Class is over. On the way out, Xiaohong stops at a small shop for a bottle of water. And then it happens one more time.

第三幕 · 小卖部

Chapter 3 · At the Corner Shop

中文导读　小卖部老板问的是同一句话。这一课真正想让你数的，是小红今天被夸了几次——六次。中文里的「你中文真好」不等于英文的客套，它是中国人表达善意最直接的方式。

Culture Note：Chapter three. A tiny shop across the road. Watch the shopkeeper's first question. It is the same question from chapter one — and this time, count how many times Xiaohong has heard that compliment today.

小红：老板，你好。

Hello, shopkeeper.

老板：你好。买什么？

Hello. What are you buying?

小红：我要一瓶水。多少钱？

I'd like a bottle of water. How much?

老板：两块钱。

Two yuan.

小红：好，给您两块钱。

OK, here you are — two yuan.

老板：谢谢。你是外国人吧？

Thanks. You're a foreigner, right?

小红：是，我是美国人。

Yes, I'm American.

老板：你的中文说得真好！

Your Chinese is really good!

小红：谢谢。今天是第六次了。

Thanks. That makes six today.

老板：什么第六次？

Six what?

小红：今天已经有六个人说我的中文好。

Six people have already told me my Chinese is good today.

老板：那是因为大家都喜欢你。

That's because everybody likes you.

小红：我明白。谢谢您。

I understand. Thank you.

老板：慢慢走，明天再来！

Take your time. Come again tomorrow!

小红：好，再见！

Culture Note：That was lesson one. You now have the three questions that open every conversation in China: what is your name, where are you from, and what do you do. And one rule of survival. When someone praises your Chinese, smile and say thank you. Next lesson: age, family, and a question that many visitors find surprising.
