IT之家 6 月 19 日消息，苹果在WWDC 2024活动上隆重推出了其全新的 AI 系统“Apple Intelligence”，并宣布将在今年秋季登陆 iPad、iPhone和 Mac 平台。

遗憾的是，苹果 AI 系统似乎存在一些限制，iPhone 方面目前只有iPhone 15 Pro和iPhone 15 Pro Max可以使用。当然，尚未发布的 iPhone 16 系列四款机型也将支持 Apple Intelligence。不过，自 WWDC 以后，我们就经常能看到苹果用户询问“为什么要设硬件限制”？

在 WWDC 2024 访谈节目中，苹果人工智能 / 机器学习主管 John Giannandrea、营销主管 Greg Joswiak 和软件工程主管 Craig Federighi 对于这个问题进行了解答：

Giannandrea：“大语言模型的推理计算量非常大。因此，这非常依赖于设备的带宽、NPU 规模，以及设备本身的性能，所以需要足够强的性能才能使这些模型跑出够看的速度。理论上，你可以在非常老的设备上运行这些模型，但运行速度过慢以至于完全可以说毫无用处。”So these models, when you run them at run times, it's called inference, and the inference of large language models is incredibly computationally expensive. And so it's a combination of bandwidth in the device, it's the size of the Apple Neural Engine, it's the oomph in the device to actually do these models fast enough to be useful. You could, in theory, run these models on a very old device, but it would be so slow that it would not be useful. 主持人 Gruber：“所以这绝对不是为了卖新 iPhone 而强行设的限制，对吧？”So it's not a scheme to sell new iPhones? 苹果软件工程主管 Craig Federighi 表示，公司推出的所有新功能首先考虑的都是尽量让老设备也能用，但对于 Apple Intelligence 来说，“这就是必须的硬件…… 在 iPhone 上运行如此强大的模型是一件非常了不起的事”。

据IT之家所知，苹果 iPhone 15 Pro 系列机型搭载的 A17 Bionic 芯片具备 16 核神经引擎，比 iPhone 15 和 iPhone 15 Plus 中的 A16 芯片快了 2 倍之高，每秒可执行近 35 万亿次操作。

Federighi 还表示，内存也是 AI 功能所需的另一个重要要素，因此，所有兼容 Apple Intelligence 的设备至少都需要拥有 8GB 内存。
