Two men were seriously ill. They occupiedthe same room in the hospital. One of them lied in the bed near the only windowin their room. Every day he was allowed to spend some time sitting up in hisbed to help draining the fluid from lungs. The other man was forced to spendall his days flat on his back.

They talked a lot about their life,families, jobs, vacations. Every time, when the first man was sitting by the window,he described in detailes all that he see outside the window. His roommatealways looked for those moments, when his world was broadened and brightened upby the world outside.

他们一起谈论他们的一生，他们的家庭、工作，以及假期。临近窗户的男人总是详尽的描述他看到的窗外的风景。看不到窗外景色的病人也便总是期待着临窗男人的描述。临窗男人的描述总能拓宽他的视野，点亮他对外面世界的想象。

Amazing views of a park with a beautifullake could be seen from the window of their room. Children delightfully playedamong ducks and swans. Couples walked arm in arm among colourful flowers. Alsothe stunning city skyline could be seen.

从他们窗户望出去是一个漂亮的，有湖的一个花园。孩子们游戏与鸭子月之间；恋人们手牵手，臂挽臂流连于花草之中。还有，远方美丽的天际线也隐约可见。

When the man by the window had beenthoroughly describing all that was happenning outside the window, his rommatewould close his eyes and imaged all the beautiful scenes of life that were toldto him.

每当临窗的男人将所见描述，他的舍友—不临窗的病友——总能沉浸在描述的美丽的世界里。他会闭上眼睛想象外面无比美丽的世界。

One morning the man, whose bed was near thewindow, had died peacefully in his sleep. His roommate was very sad.

一天早上，临窗的男人平静的离开了这个世界。他的舍友悲痛不已。

After some time, when the nurse came tovisit him, he asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse agreedand kindly made the switch. When she left, the man slowly and painfully proppedhimself up on one elbow and took the first look at the world outside. He wasstunned. The window faced a blank wall.

几日后，接着护士照料的机会，这位远离窗户的舍友请求是否可以让他搬到窗户边。护士同意了并帮他搬了过去。护士离开后，他慢慢的、吃力的用自己的肘扶起自己，第一次的看到了窗外。他惊呆了！窗外是一面白墙。

When the nurse came to visit him the nexttime, he told her about beautiful things outside the window that his rommatedecribed him. The nurse replied that his rommate was a blind man. She said:„Probably he just tried to encourage you.“

护士再来时，他急不可耐的告诉她他曾经的室友描述给他的美丽的外面的世界。护士告诉他说，其实他的室友是一位盲人。她说：“他也许只是试着去给你活下去的勇气”。
